The KangXi Zidian was chosen as primary because it contains most of the source characters and the principles of those characters ordering are commonly used throughout East Asia.
When a character is found in the KangXi Zidian, it follows the KangXi Zidian order. When it is not found in KangXi Zidian and it is found in Dai Kan-Wa Jiten, it is given a position extrapolated from the KangXi position of the preceding character in Dai Kan-Wa Jiten. When it is not found in either KangXi or Dai Kan-Wa, then the Hanyu Da Zidian and Dae Jaweon dictionaries are consulted in a similar manner.
